Defending Democracy: Educators Take Action

As we prepare to mobilize en mass for the 2020 presidential elections, this conference sharpens our focus on fundamental challenges to our democracy that may be less visible than electoral politics. These issues include the current Administrations' appointment of conservative justices to the federal judiciary. The laws that they collectively shape will govern our body politic and could have devastating consequences for public education, for women's rights, and for marginalized and racialized communities.

The 2020 Summer Meeting will bring into focus some of the challenges to our democracy and prepare educators to take action to defend it.
